Lewis Rosove Guest Viola Recital

Lewis RosoveMaranatha Music Department adjunct professor Lewis Rosove will present a guest viola recital Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at Burckart Hall.

Rosove was the Milwaukee Symphony’s assistant principal viola for 22 seasons. He has been a soloist for many regional groups while performing with chamber music ensembles across the country. Rosove was twice a finalist in the Coleman Chamber Music Competition.

Teaching is one of Rosove’s loves. He is an adjunct professor at both Maranatha and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Many of his students have won positions in symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, and universities.

The program for the evening includes:

  • Suite No. 5 in C Minor for Unaccompanied Cello, BWV1011 (Bach)
  • Suite No. 1 in G Minor for Unaccompanied Viola, Op. 131d (Reger)
  • Sonata in E-flat Major for Viola and Piano, Op. 120, No. 2 (Brahms)
  • Sonata for Viola and Piano in B-flat Major, Op.36 (Vieuxtemps)
