Maranatha Hosts Jenzabar RUG Conference

When Maranatha prepared to launch its first unified campus database in the fall of 2011, the College chose Jenzabar EX as the software package to make it happen. Staff members were able to share some of the knowledge gained during the last year, and gain even more, when Maranatha hosted the Jenzabar EX Midwest Regional Users Group (RUG) meeting Dec. 14.

“We were able to connect with others who have been using the product longer than we have and find out how to make it work for us even more effectively,” Vice President for Business Affairs Mark Stevens said. “A number of people who attended said they were thrilled with the sharing of ideas that took place and with us as the host school.”

There were 117 people from 20 colleges who registered for the RUG meeting, which featured workshops by 22 presenters—all but one a Jenzabar user. The meeting came during the final day of fall semester exams.

Workshop topics included general applications as well as topics specific to development, enrollment, financial aid, IT, and the eRacer learning management system. Three Maranatha employees led workshop sessions—Admissions Office Administrative Assistant Donna Hibbs (“Enrollment Management”), Database Administrator Sean McGrail (“The Care and Feeding of Your Jenzabar Users” and “Custom Report Deployment Strategies”), and Network Administrator Scott Riley (“Deploying Jenzabar EX via Microsoft’s RemoteApp”).

Stevens said he was pleased with the relatively even distribution of registrants at the different workshop sessions. The college gave each attendee a gift pack that included a gospel tract.

Previous RUG meetings for Jenzabar EX had taken place in October at Central Neosho County Community College (KS), Claflin University (SC), and Trine University (IN).

“You guys raised the bar for sure,” Jenzabar Product Marketing Manager Liz DeSmit wrote in a thank-you note to Stevens.
