Every year, Maranatha’s Music Department holds a contest for Maranatha’s collegiate musicians. For the first round, student performances are adjudicated by faculty from area universities, and three finalists are chosen for piano, instrumental, and voice.
The three finalists in each category perform in Burckart Hall, and Maranatha’s private lesson faculty select a winning pianist, vocalist, and instrumentalist. These winners perform in an Honors Concert for Maranatha’s student body. The full-time music faculty then vote for an overall winner, and the overall winner is awarded a cash prize.
The 2014 winner is Melody Steinbart. Melody performed Concerto in D, by Sibelius on the violin and was assisted by Mrs. Ruth Brown.
