PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Lakeland and Maranatha played two close quarters of football before the Muskies pulled away in the third to win 33-7 on Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders fumbled five times, losing three and were intercepted twice to disrupt their rhythm on offense.
Lakeland took control of the game with a 12-0 lead before senior quarterback Phil Littrell (Valrico, Fla.) tossed a 24 yard touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Joel Kobosh (Lake Mills, Wis.).
The defense halted several drives in the first half, starting with an interception by junior cornerback Matt Morrison (Jefferson, Wis.). Morrison’s interception saved a possible touchdown with Lakeland at the Maranatha two yard line.
In the second quarter, Lakeland attempted to go for it on fourth and goal only to fumble, giving possession to the Crusaders.
Lakeland scored 21 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach, intercepting Littrell twice.
Littrell finished with 143 passing yards and a touchdown while Kobosh put together five receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown. Freshman receiver Jordan Delay got in on the action, catching six passes for 50 yards.
On defense, senior defensive end Ethan Rosen had twelve tackles while junior linebackers Bobby O’Brien (Sauk Centre, Minn.) and freshman Ethan Kennon (Raleigh, N.C.) each had a quarterback sack.
The Crusaders complete their season next Saturday at home against Rockford College at 12:00 p.m.
