Prior to graduation each year, Maranatha’s senior music majors take the ETS Major Field Exam in Music as a measure of their learning during their years at Maranatha. The test includes subsets on listening comprehension, written theory and written history. A sampling of other state and Christian universities taking this exam include Mississippi, Tulsa, Missouri, Evansville, Kent State, Clearwater Christian, Cornerstone, Liberty, Northwestern, and Wheaton. The department began administering this standardized exam in 1999 to help better evaluate the music programs. Over the years, the test results have aided the department in implementing changes to strengthen the course offerings. Maranatha is pleased to announce that this year, the graduating musicians scored in the top 10% for the fifth consecutive year. Congratulations to the students and faculty on this accomplishment!
