WATERTOWN, WI – Senior center Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, IL) has been named the Association of Division III Independents Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of February. While working hard as a student teacher this semester to achieve her Math Education degree, the center dominated on the hardwood throughout the month of February, helping lead the Crusaders to a 4-2 record while averaging 19.5 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
Peterson also contributed 2.7 assists and 4.8 blocks per game during the six game stretch, while shooting an efficient 51.9 percent from the floor and 83.9 percent from the line. The senior nearly recorded what would have been her third triple-double of the year against Grace Bible on February 15th, as she finished with 27 points, 21 rebounds and 8 blocks in a narrow 83-76 loss. Peterson followed up that game with back-to-back outputs of 20-plus points, notching an impressive 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 blocks against Moody Bible, followed by a 20 point, 7 rebound performance against Kuyper College.
The leading shot-blocker in the Association scored in double figures in all six games for the Crusaders, and concluded the month with two double-doubles that spurred her team to three straight victories in the NCCAA Midwest Regional Tournament to claim the #7 overall seed in the NCCAA DII National Tournament.
