WATERTOWN, WI – The Maranatha Baptist University Sabercats volleyball team achieved a 3.54 team grade-point average for the 2013-14 school year, and for the second straight-year, joined 675 other schools in winning the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.
Teams must earn at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale, and a 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
The 676 mark represents the most schools to earn the award since its inception in 1993, trumping last year’s 623 mark, which spans 10 different divisions, including NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and the NCCAA.
Maranatha’s affiliation, NCAA Division III, put forth the second-most schools of any division—126, while Division I came out on top with 134 institutions.
