CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Playing just their third and fourth games of their spring break trip, Maranatha lost 3-0 and 11-1 to Tennessee Temple on Wednesday afternoon at AT&T field.

Wednesday’s game, originally scheduled for Monday, was a rainout makeup and Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s games against Johnson University were both cancelled due to unplayable field conditions.   Senior pitcher Garret Ordway singled to kick off the first game and advanced as far as third on a stolen base and wild pitch before being stranded.

Ordway pitched seven innings, striking out five and allowing two earned runs, but Maranatha left four players on base, two reaching third base in the third and fifth innings.

Tennessee Temple meanwhile, scored runs in each of the first two innings, and tacked on the third in the sixth for the win.

Down 5-0 entering the fourth inning of game two, sophomore pitcher Caleb Rost (Greenville, S.C.) and senior catcher Andy Timblin (Muscoda, Wis.) each singled.

Rost eventually scored, but Tennessee Temple’s six-run sixth inning dropped Maranatha to 2-2 on the season.

Ordway went 2-3 in each game while Rost and senior first baseman Tim Shelp (Independence, Mo.) each had a pair of hits.

Maranatha moves on to face the University of the Cumberlands on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. EST in Williamsburg, Ky.
