Watson, Kluver, Lead Crusaders At WI Private College Championships

MEQUON, WI – Maranatha’s Michael Kluver (Sauk Centre, MN) and Margo Watson (Atlanta, GA) helped guide both the men’s and women’s cross country teams to 10th place finishes at the Wisconsin Private College Championships, hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin, with a 62nd and 31st place respectively.

Kluver, who finished with a time of 30:04.5, has shaved off three seconds from the Bethel College Invitational, while sophomore Elijah Walters (Buck Creek, IN) improved his time in the 8k race with a time of 30:15.9, for 64th place. Freshman Caleb Wagner (Sandusky, MI), who finished just four seconds behind Walters, clocked in at 30:19.1 for 65th place while Robert Truax (Lexington, S.C.) registered a 31:55.8.

The men’s team finished with 273 team points while the women beat out five other teams for 10th place with a score of 300 in the 6k course.

Watson was the first Crusader to cross the finish line, pacing herself quite well with a time of 25:31.0, shaving off a full minute since her last 6k race, at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational on October 5th.

Sophomore Kimberly Richerson (Elmwood, IL) followed Watson with a time of 27:25.6, also more than a minute improvement over the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational, and sophomore Caitlin Ebert (Mequon, WI) posted a 29:14.3.

Freshman Natalie Deman (Frederic, MI) and junior Michelle Kramlich (Milford, DE) were the fourth and fifth Crusaders to cross the finish line with times of 30:26.8 and 32:25.2 respectively.

The Wisconsin Private College Championships concludes the regular season, as Maranatha primes itself, for what hopes to be a strong performance at the NCCAA Nationals at Cedarville University on November 9 at 10:00 a.m. EST.
