MBU alumnus Bethany (Schimkus) Rose was recently accepted into the graduate program at Wright State University, enabling her to continue pursuing her passion for music.

Rose graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Violin Pedagogy and Performance in May of 2017. While at MBU, she played a vital part in the workings of the music department—sitting as concertmaster for a few years in the orchestra and consistently teaching with excellence at Maranatha Music Prep School.

After completing her undergraduate degree, Rose had a couple of her own plans that she attempted to put into effect. “After several of my plans failed,” Rose explains, “God taught me and continues to teach me that His plans and timing are always best.”

She married U.S. Military member Joseph Rose May 2017, and they moved to Texas for a short time where the new Mrs. Rose found a job teaching in San Angelo. Knowing that they would not be there long, she did not search for grad school opportunities, but the Lord opened the door when the Roses moved to Dayton, Ohio.

Rose began searching for a school where she could earn a master’s degree. She applied at Wright State University where she was accepted to study violin performance under the excellent tutelage of Dr. In-Hong Chang.

Rose desires to set up her own violin studio and believes this degree will aid her greatly in that plan. “While teaching has always been my passion, I’m excited to better my personal violin skills both technically and musically so I will be better equipped to teach my future students,” says Rose.
