The Chambers Singers pose after their final concert of the year.

Chamber Singers Concert Blesses Believers Around the World

On a Wednesday night that the Chamber Singers were supposed to be on the road, they were performing a concert to be broadcast from an empty church. It was an emotional evening, as this concert was several students’ last opportunity to ever sing with the choir. Many were struggling with the disappointment of having choir tour canceled. However, God works all things together for good. Through a concert nobody could have predicted, believers from all around the world were blessed. Each song contained powerful truth to comfort hearts in uncertain times.

Blessings from Students

The spiritual messages of the songs blessed the students of the choir. “Performing in this concert revealed the unity and heart of ministry our choir had towards one another,” said Emily Kindstedt, a junior Music major. “The messages of trusting always in the Lord and worshiping Him above all else carried deeper meaning for us after the disappointment of not going on tour, allowing us to minister with more intentionality and a full heart, knowing God was in control.”

Sophomore Music Education major Samuel Folkman added, “I never knew how much those hymns meant to me until we sang them at Calvary Baptist. Almost every song came alive to me and brought comfort to me in this difficult time.” The students eliminated all the business and noise from their minds and joined together in praise to God.

Blessings Around the World

Susie Yuen, a music graduate of Maranatha, sent her thanks for the concert. She and her husband James are missionaries currently serving the Lord in Hong Kong. “It was such a huge blessing to watch and listen,” she said. “What a special service.” Mrs. Yuen said she especially appreciated the words of the music – “sharing deep truths in accessible ways to all, but with such rich meaning.” In the midst of global turmoil, the Yuen family was able to tune in to a virtual concert and be reminded of the truth of God’s word. “It has been exhausting at times, and the Chambers Concert was so refreshing–and a reminder to keep filling my heart and mind with His word, prayer to God and godly music.”
