Watertown Regional Medical Center Presents at Final Breakfast

Richard Keddington, Watertown Regional Medical Center CEO, and Robert Wampler, President of Short-term Acute Care, co-presented at Maranatha’s Leadership Breakfast on March 15, 2022.

Keddington opened the presentation with ice breaker questions to quiz the audience on Watertown Regional Medical Center (WRMC) trivia, then dove into an overview of WRMC.

Overview of Watertown Regional Medical Center

WRMC offers the Watertown community advanced levels of care with Advanced Fellowship Trained physicians specializing in heart attack care, critical care specialists, stroke care, laser eye surgery, 3D mammography, joint-point computer-assisted navigation, and robotic surgery.

The hospital is rated 5 stars from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), received an “A” grade from the LeapFrog Group, and received Chest Pain Accreditation from the American College of Cardiology.

The Board of Trustees provides a local voice as they work with the Greater Watertown Community Health Foundation and ScionHealth. WRMC has a financial partnership with the Greater Watertown Community Health Foundation as 20% of the hospital’s net income annually goes to this foundation.

One of Watertown’s largest employers with more than 700 employees in 2020, the hospital has donated over 5 million dollars to those in need and local organizations.

Keddington then gave the floor to Robert Wampler, President of Short-term Acute Care, who explained the new corporation – ScionHealth.

Introduction to ScionHealth

Wampler presents ScionHealth

ScionHealth launched in December 2021 and was 82 days old at the time of the Leadership Breakfast. A spinoff of LifePoint Health, ScionHealth has 500 employee positions and works with hospitals across 25 states.  Employees from LifePoint are currently involved with the ScionHealth staff to ensure the successful launch of the new corporation.

Wampler explained that Watertown was chosen to partner with ScionHealth because of the strong, supportive community. ScionHealth is looking forward to optimizing, innovating, and growing as they create a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion while making people their focus.
