Dr. Veenstra and his wife Christine have three children, Jacob, Prairie, and Benjamin. His hobbies center on family activities like school events, school sports, and raising a small collection of farm animals. He credits his wife as being his spiritual partner who not only supports him in his career, but also encourages him in his walk with God.
Dr. Veenstra obtained his PhD in Biochemistry from University of Windsor (Windsor, ON) and completed a three year post-doctoral fellowship at the Mayo Clinic under the guidance of Dr. Rajiv Kumar. He has over 20 years of research experience both in academics and as a Senior Vice President for a biotech company that focused on neurological diseases. With more than 380 published works (including 2 books), and eight patents, Dr. Timothy Veenstra brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with Maranatha’s science students as the chair of the Department of Applied Science.
