Maranatha Baptist University invites you to take part in the annual Great Lakes Music Festival, an intense, amazing weekend of music-making celebrating 50 years of God’s grace.
Great Lakes is a short but exhilarating two-day music camp for 8th-12th graders from around the country, offering tracks for men’s chorus, ladies’ chorus/tone chimes, band, orchestra, and piano, led by MBU’s accomplished music faculty. Another opportunity the campers will receive is quality choral instruction as they participate in the all-camp choir alongside university students. “I really loved the opportunity to interact with college students and music faculty at Maranatha,” remarks Justine Ostrander, who attended Great Lakes for three years. “And I always looked forward to the new faces I would see and the new techniques I would learn.”
Registration will kick off at 12:30 pm on Friday, January 26 followed by an afternoon of individual classes and practices. Later that evening, campers will be treated to a special program from one of Maranatha’s performing groups. At 1:30 on Saturday the weekend will close out with the final concert on the theme of Maranatha’s 50th anniversary.
“It is a great experience to play good music in a Christian environment” says MBU senior Joseph Steinbart who attended Great Lakes for six years, and will be helping out for his fifth year this January. He encourages high-schoolers to attend to benefit from the challenging experience and opportunity for improvement that it provides.
Great Lakes is an amazing chance to get together with like-minded Christian young people for a great time of fellowship and fun and hone your music skills at the same time. Register before January 8 to get a $15 discount.
