Eric Metzler graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2014 with a B.S. in Engineering Management. Upon commissioning, he completed the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Following BOLC graduation, he was assigned to 2-77 Field Artillery of the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado. While there, he served as a Fire Support Officer for a Cavalry Squadron. He deployed to Afghanistan with 3-61 CAV from 2015 to 2016, where he served as an Advisor Force Protection Platoon Leader in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel (OFS).
Upon his return, he served as a Fire Direction Officer, Firing Battery Platoon Leader, and a Battalion Assistant S-4 until 2018. He then attended the Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and upon graduation was assigned as an Assistant Professor of Military Science (APMS) for Maranatha Baptist University. He currently serves as the Primary Instructor for all Freshmen and Sophomore Cadets.
