Our Chancellor

Dr. Marty Marriott

Dr. Marty Marriott was named the second chancellor of Maranatha on May 5, 2023.

As a Maranatha alumnus, Dr. Marriott has a unique perspective of Maranatha’s emphasis on developing leaders for the local church and ministry. After coming to Christ as a student at the University of Cincinnati, he attended Maranatha under the Cedarholm administration and developed a love for the college and its mission. In 1974, he graduated with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees and immediately pursued further training receiving a Master of Divinity and later a bachelor’s degree in business management.  In 2007, Maranatha Baptist Bible College honored him with a Doctor of Divinity degree.

Dr. Marriott’s pastoral experience dates to 1979, when a Bible study Dr. Marriott started in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, led to the founding of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. He was pastor of that church until 1988, and from 1993-97. He also pastored First Baptist Church of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania (1988-93) and Faith Baptist of Warren, Michigan (1997-2010). He has been a member of Maranatha’s Board of Trustees since 1998 and has also served on the boards of Baptist World Mission, the Independent Fundamental Baptist Association of Michigan, and the Michigan Association of Christian Schools.

Dr. Marriott met his wife Miriam (Cummins) while in college. Miriam is a frequent women’s speaker and is actively involved in ministry to students on campus. They have three grown children—Rebecca (Brock), Rachel (Roberts), and David—all of whom are married to MBU alumni and serve in full-time ministry. The Marriotts have twelve amazing grandchildren.
