PROFESSOR EMERITUS

The following individuals have earned Professor Emeritus status at MBU. To achieve this status, a retired faculty member must have served Maranatha with distinction for 15 years or more. Emeritus status is awarded by the Board of Trustees.

 

Max Barnes

BIBLE | SEMINARY

Dr. Max Barnes served at MBU for 30 years, from 1970 until May 2000. As the central focus, Dr. Barnes taught Old Testament and Hebrew courses, but he also functioned as Chairman of the Department of Bible and Church Ministries, Director of Postgraduate Studies, Director of Extension, Coordinator of Student Activities, and Dean of Students.

John Brock

EDUCATION

Dr. John Brock served as Maranatha’s Vice President for Academics for 30 years, from 1984 through May 2014. As a leader in Christian education and a pioneer in the University’s efforts to gain regional accreditation, Dr. Brock impacted the lives of countless students.

Monty Budahl

MUSIC

Dr. Monty Budahl served as a Maranatha music faculty member for 38 years, from 1969 through May 2007. For 18 of those years, Dr. Budahl was Music Department Chairman. Dr. Budahl’s leadership significantly shaped Maranatha’s musical heritage.

Marshall Corrick

SCIENCE | EDUCATION

Dr. Marshall Corrick served as an MBU faculty member for 19 years, from 1990 until 2009. Dr. Corrick taught science and education courses and functioned as the program coordinator for Nursing and Science programs. Dr. Corrick was instrumental in the University’s efforts to begin the BS in Nursing program.

Barbara Hershberger

EDUCATION

Mrs. Barbara Hershberger served at Maranatha for 33 years, from 1979 through May 2012. Mrs. Hershberger taught education and reading courses and was a foundational inspiration in the creation and development of MBU’s well-regarded Elementary Education major.

David Hershberger

BIBLE

Dr. David Hershberger began teaching at Maranatha in the Fall semester 1974 and retired in May 2012, after serving for 38 years From 1977 through 2002, Dr. Hershberger taught Bible courses, and he also served as the University’s Registrar for 35 years until his retirement. Dr. Hershberger’s wise academic leadership during the University’s formative years is noteworthy.

J. Mark Holland

EDUCATION

Dr. J. Mark Holland served at Maranatha for 26 years, from 1973 until 1999. Dr. Holland was the Coordinator of Student Teaching for 24 years, helping senior student educators prepare for a teaching ministry.

Bruce Jackson

EDUCATION

Dr. Bruce Jackson began his ministry at Maranatha in Fall 1987 and retired in May 2009, after 22 years of service. Dr. Jackson taught education and psychology courses and served as Director of Institutional Research and Dean of the School of Education. Known as a leader in Christian education, Dr. Jackson guided MBU through the University’s initial Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Education program approval in the early 1990s.

Jerry Kolwinska

HUMANITIES | EDUCATION

Mr. Jerry Kolwinska began his ministry at Maranatha in Fall 1995 and retired in May 2020, after 25 years of service. Mr. Kolwinska taught English and Education courses and served as the English Program Coordinator for many  years. He is well-known for his adept efforts to integrate a Biblical worldview into his courses and his ardent love for the Humanities.

Claude Linder

SCIENCE | EDUCATION

Mr. Claude Linder served at MBU for 28 years, from 1975 until 2003. Mr. Linder taught Science and Education courses and also functioned as Media Services Director. Mr. Linder’s Biblical Creationism course accurately reflected his heart for both Biblical accuracy and Science.

Curtis Malmanger

MATHEMATICS

Dr. Curtis Malmanger beegan teaching at Maranatha in 1988 and retired in 2014, after serving for 27 years. Dr. Malmanger taught Mathematics courses and led the Applied Science Department for many years as Department Chairman.

Omer Perdue

HISTORY

Dr. Omer Perdue served at Maranatha for 18 years, from 1990 until 2008. Dr. Perdue taught History and Polical Science courses and functioned as chairman of the Humanities Department for 15 years. Dr. Perdue was known for his deeply held belief in God’s providential hand in history.

Colene Price

CHURCH MINISTRIES

Mrs. Colene Price began teaching at Maranatha in 1984 and retired in 2013, after serving for 29 years. Mrs. Price taught Church Ministries and Speech courses and assisted her husband, Dr. Terry Price, in leading the Church Ministries Department.

Terry Price

CHURCH MINISTRIES | BIBLE

Dr. Terry Price served at Maranatha for 29 years, from 1984 until 2013. Dr. Price taught Bible and Church Ministry courses and led the Church Ministries Department. Dr. Price was also the MBU Athletic director for six years and served as the head football coach for 26 years, impacting lives in the classroom and on the field.

Jerry Terrill

EDUCATION

Mr. Jerry Terrill began teaching at Maranatha in 1979 and retired in 2004, after serving for 25 years. Mr. Terrill taught Physical Education and Coaching courses and was the head coach of the men’s basketball and baseball teams, winning numerous coach of the year awards and leading MBU men’s basketball team to the NCCAA national championship in 1990.

Rick Townsend

MUSIC EDUCATION

Dr. Rick Townsend began his ministry at Maranatha in Fall 1996 and retired in May 2020, after 24 years of service. Dr. Townsend taught Music and Education courses and served as the MBU Band Director for many years. He is recognized for his creative and tireless effort in establishing MBU’s excellent Music Education program.
