At Maranatha, relationships are a priority. In the midst of busy college life, however, relationships can be difficult to develop. Societies enable students to establish connections with each other while working toward common goals in ministry, intramural sports, and personal growth.
Within the first few weeks of the school year, new students choose a society for their college career and get involved in society chapels, intramural sports, society-sponsored activities, and ministry. Under the direction of a student-elected society president and his or her cabinet, societies grow, serve, and make memories together while competing for the coveted title of Society of the Year.
Intramural competitions inject enthusiasm into campus life. The five men’s and five women’s societies divide into teams for competition in soccer, dodgeball, volleyball, and basketball. The fierce competition culminates in a women’s Powderpuff Football tournament each spring, where teams battle for gridiron supremacy.
Societies are welcome to submit additional tournament proposals to the Office of Student Activities for consideration.
