2023 Outstanding Musician – Lydia Bachorik

Maranatha Baptist University’s Department of Music announces Lydia Bachorik as the 2023 Outstanding Senior Musician. Every year, the music faculty choose a graduate they believe completely exhibits the qualities of the spirit of Maranatha through music. Selection considerations include the student’s musicianship, academic merit, spiritual and character qualities, and Christian service.

Bachorik actively participated in many facets of Maranatha’s Music Department. She performed in the Symphonic Band, the Chamber Singers, and the 2022 Heritage Singers. At Maranatha Music Prep School, she taught private flute lessons and early childhood music and movement classes. Her attention to detail and desire for excellence shone in her position as choir and band librarian for several semesters and as a student worker in the Music Office.

“Lydia is a wonderful help to me in Chamber Singers,” noted Dr. David Ledgerwood. “Even though she is quite talented, she is not puffed-up, and her Christ-like spirit shines in everything she does. She seeks to do her work carefully and thoughtfully. It is a pleasure to work with her.”

Associate Professor Janet Tschida adds, “Lydia’s love for learning coupled with her strong work ethic enabled her to make incredible strides in her musical development during her time at Maranatha. As a Music Prep teacher, she established wonderful rapport with her students and their parents. She consistently implemented the strategies discussed during internship meetings and really matured as a teacher. Her love for God and heart for ministry was consistently evidenced in her daily life.”

Congratulations to Maranatha’s 2023 Outstanding Senior Musician – Lydia Bachorik.
