Spring Choir Concert Features Student Conductors
Maranatha prides itself in its accomplished musicians who have been endowed with the capabilities that exceed expectations. In order to showcase the talent and work ethic of their students in a public forum, the music department organized a concert to provide a unique and powerful livestream performance by the combined ensembles of the Chambers and Madrigal choirs. In addition to its virtual performance, the concert featured exclusively student conductors. These upperclassmen and graduate students were given the opportunity to rehearse with small ensembles over the latter half of the spring semester. Supervised by university choir directors Dr. David Ledgerwood and Dr. David Brown, these exceptional conductors flourished under the opportunity to manage a choral group from first rehearsals through performance time, growing a small group of singers into a proficient vocal team.
Narrated by our own Dr. Brown, the concert focused on singing for the Lord “to the praise of His glory.” The texts chosen concentrated on the goodness and redemption of God.
