Gingery and Steinbart Recital Highlights
Throughout the semester, Maranatha invites professional musicians to perform on stage in Burckart Hall. These performances provide students with a distraction from the business of college life and inspiration from other musicians’ accomplishments in music. From vocal performances to instrumental pieces, here are highlights from guest and faculty recitals.
Dr. Phil Gingery
On September 15, Dr. Phil Gingery presented a vocal concert entitled “Songs of My Friends.” The concert featured his sister Christa Gingery Habegger on the piano and his son Joseph Gingery on the violin. Arrangers included Dan Forrest, David Ledgerwood, Ron Hamilton, and many more, most of whom Gingery knew personally.
For thirty years, Gingery has served as the assistant pastor and minister of music at Bible Baptist Church and West Chester Christian School. Holding a BA and M.Mus. in Voice Performance, he enjoys singing as a serious hobbyist and has led vocal and instrumental ensembles to develop the next generation of musicians.
Enjoy these selections from Gingery’s concert.
Steinbart String Duo
On October 6, Melody Steinbart and Joseph Steinbart collaborated in a string concert, “Fantasy, Memories, and Love.” Alongside pianist Ruth Bachorik, the brother-sister duo showcased selections from Dvořák, Prokofiev, and Schubert.
Melody holds a BA in String Pedagogy and an MA in Violin Performance, and Joseph Steinbart holds a BA in Church Music and an MA in Viola Performance and String Pedagogy. In addition to their numerous professional performances and private studio, they both work on faculty at Maranatha.
