Gillinov Family Joins the Maranatha Family

Mr. Corey and Mrs. Kim Gillinov are joining the Maranatha family in the Fall of 2023. The Gillinovs are moving from Florida to Watertown where Corey will join the Facilities Management Department as the Maintenance Supervisor and Kim will join the School of Nursing as an Associate Professor.

Corey founded SonShine Carpentry in July of 2021 and created a successful business through building, delivering, and installing custom cabinetry and furniture. In addition to bringing technical, business experience to the Facilities Management team, Corey brings a background of ministry-focused mentorship. He served in a youth pastorate position in Wyoming prior to working as a Residence Life Coordinator at a Christian college.

Corey states, “God started working out all the details to assure us that it was what He wanted for our family. I am most excited about a fresh start in a godly environment. I believe there is just something special about a new beginning.”

Jared Chesley, Facilities Manager, shares, “The Facilities Management Team is looking forward to working with Corey to maintain and improve our buildings and maintenance systems. We are thankful that this open position has been filled and look forward to supporting campus activities.”

Kim comes to Maranatha with a strong resume of professional experience in the Nursing field. For six years, Kim worked in a variety of hospital positions including ICU, Post-Operative Recovery, and Charge RN Circulator in a Trauma center. One of her current responsibilities is the training and instruction of new staff and graduate nurses. She also served on the Nursing faculty of a Christian college for three years. Kim holds a BSN and is enrolled in an MSN program.

Kim states, “Once we felt the spirit at Maranatha, we knew we wanted to serve the Lord there together! I am most excited about being able to invest in training the next generation of Christian nurses. Critical Care and Surgical nursing has been a way for me to serve the Lord and advocate for patients who have no way to advocate for themselves. It has been a ministry I have been so thankful to be a part of. I am passionate about mentoring and developing nurses to use their skills to serve their patients and show them the love of Jesus through the ministry of nursing.”

Tami Gunselman, Director of the School of Nursing, shares, “We are excited about Kim Gillinov joining the MBU nursing faculty. Her years of critical care, rural health care, surgical nursing experience, and teaching experience will enhance the student experience at MBU. Kim has expertise in running simulations in hospital and school settings and we look forward to having her help us strengthen our simulation program in the coming years. Most of all, we are eager to have Mrs. Gillinov join us in mentoring the next generation of Christian nurses ‘to the Praise of His Glory’.”

The Gillinovs will start their new roles in the Fall of 2023.
