New Faculty to Bring Unique Expertise

Maranatha is pleased to announce several new faculty who will each teach a specialized course this fall. These new faculty bring unique skills and expertise. Students are encouraged to take advantage of these classes.

Ruth Bachorik

Mrs. Ruth Bachorik joins the Maranatha Department of Music as an Associate Professor in the 2023-2024 academic year. She will teach Keyboard Skills 4 on Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. along with private lessons.

Mrs. Bachorik holds a Master of Music in piano performance and a Bachelor’s in Music and Bible. She taught music and piano pedagogy courses as well as private lessons for 20 years at Bob Jones Memorial Bible College in the Philippines. Prior to their family’s ministry in the Philippines, she had a private piano studio and worked as an accompanist for various groups.

Jeff Borchardt

Mr. Jeff Borchardt is a familiar face on Maranatha’s campus. After graduating from Maranatha, he taught math and PE at several Christian schools, including eleven years at Maranatha Baptist Academy. As a high school teacher, Mr. Borchardt coached a variety of junior and senior high school sports, including basketball, football, baseball, and volleyball. From 2008-2022, he was the assistant coach for Maranatha Sabercats Men’s Basketball.

Mr. Borchardt will teach Techniques of Coaching Basketball on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. This practical course is a study of conditioning programs, skill development, rules, and strategy, with total program development.

Lloyd Bower

Mr. Lloyd Bower joined the Maranatha IT Department in 2021 as the Help Desk Supervisor. In 2023, he transitioned to a new position as Assistant Network Administrator. Students, faculty, and staff all greatly appreciate his expertise and assistance with technology. Mr. Bower has a degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering and experience as a freelance software developer.

Mr. Bower will teach a course in the Computer Network Technology program, Introduction to Computer Programming (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 12:30 p.m.). The course introduces students to computer programming and scripting. Topics include working with variables, functions, logic, and object-oriented concepts.

Birgitta Donovan

Mrs. Birgitta Donovan plays an important role on campus as the Student Health Center Coordinator. She is a licensed RN with experience providing nursing care in the hospital setting, as a visiting nurse, and in an outpatient cardiopulmonary rehab setting. She is a Red Cross Certified First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor.

Mrs. Donovan will teach First Aid and Safety on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. The course provides a study of the essentials of first aid and safety as outlined by the Red Cross.
