At MBU, we want our students to experience opportunities for ministry both locally and globally. To help them take advantage of these opportunities, our university sends missions teams all over the world through our Global Encounters program.

The prophet Jeremiah observed it millennia ago, and it remains true today: what we see shapes our hearts (Lamentations 3:51). When students experience missions firsthand, walking unfamiliar streets, learning names and stories, and sharing God’s love with souls in need, their hearts are forever moved.

Global Encounters makes this transformation possible.

PREPARE TO GO. SERVE. LEAD.

Students join a team, receive training, and participate in focused group missions. Some trips are tailored for specific abilities like sports, medical care, or music, while others welcome any willing volunteer. Our teams partner with established ministries in targeted fields, countries such as Mexico, the Philippines, Peru, Hong Kong, the Cayman
Islands, and India.

With biblical education and real-world experience, Maranatha students are equipped to answer God’s call wherever it may lead.

THESE TRIPS ARE A BLESSING FOR WHICH WE ARE INDEBTED TO GOD AND ARE A TRIBUTE TO THE MINDSET OF OUR STUDENT BODY.

Dr. Steve Love, Director of Global Encounters

EVERY MARANATHA STUDENT IS ENCOURAGED TO CONSIDER A GLOBAL ENCOUNTERS TRIP.

Participating students are required to raise their own support for each trip, allowing donors to connect with Maranatha in a unique way. Currently, over 6,000 donors have given over $1.25 million dollars toward student mission trips. Ultimately, these funds help students experience a mission trip that molds and enhances their view of ministry, missions, and the local church.

His plans are greater than ours and this trip has helped me to trust Him more. Oh, what God can do with a willing and fully surrendered heart. Taking your eyes off yourself and turning them to Him and the eternal mission set before us. To love as He loves. This is what makes all the difference. Living always only for Thee.

Julianna Russo

I loved it. It was such a blessing to minister in Peru. The Lord enabled my classmates and I to care for people in multiple ways. The trip inspired me to get involved in future medical missions trips. It was an amazing experience that I will cherish forever.

Lauren Youngs

On our missions trip I learned that sports can be used as an amazing opportunity to build relationships in the community and reach people with the gospel. A trip like this shows that we can use sports to serve and glorify God.
