Dr. Marriott and his wife, Miriam, have three children, Rebecca (’99), Rachel (’03), and David (’07, ’14). All three children also married Maranatha alumni. Originally from Ohio, Dr. Marriott loves the Cincinnati Reds, and as he lived in Tennessee, he also cheers for the Tennessee Volunteers. He has never been to Hawaii, but he believes it would be his favorite vacation spot. Dr. Marriott enjoys reading articles on politics and business and spending time with his grandchildren.

Dr. Marty Marriott came to Maranatha to fill the role of president in the spring of 2010. Previously, he pastored several churches, including Faith Baptist Church in Warren, Michigan (1997-2010), Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, Tennessee (planted church and pastored-1979-1988, 1993-1997), and First Baptist Church of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania (1988-1993). From 1977-1979, Dr. Marriott taught sixth grade at Independent Christian School in Chattanooga. He was Youth Director for Falls Baptist Church in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin in 1976 and Neighborhood Bible Time Evangelist in 1975. Dr. Marriott serves on the board of Maranatha Baptist University and Baptist World Mission, and is the current president of the American Association of Christian Colleges and Seminaries.
