Philip Alsup
Associate Professor
School of Education
Dr. Philip Alsup came to Maranatha with many years of experience in Christian education. Throughout college and after graduation, he worked at a Christian camp. This experience burdened him for ministry and called him to work in education. He spent thirteen years at a Christian school, serving as principal, teacher, and coach. Dr. Alsup is familiar with higher education, working with different Christian universities to develop and teach online courses, particularly at the graduate level. From 2018-2020, he was the Director of Maranatha Online and Distance Learning and taught education courses. In 2020, he took on a new role at Maranatha – principal of Maranatha Baptist Academy – but continues to teach both residential and online courses.
Dr. Alsup loves working with young people and steering their lives and minds toward being useful to God. He states, “Teaching provides a variety of opportunities to challenge the mind and also build relationships with people. MBU believes strongly in the need for Christian education, and serving here allows me to be part of the important and eternal work of influencing Christian young people.”
