Willsons Awarded Full TA and Scholarships at UW Milwaukee
Shortly after performing their graduate auditions at University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, MBU alumni Jeremiah Willson (’10 Flute Performance) and Amber (Perkins) Willson (’15 Piano Pedagogy) received their acceptance letters for Fall, 2018. Amber was awarded a full TA position which includes health benefits, salary, and various teaching and performing opportunities at UW Milwaukee. Jeremiah received a scholarship award that will cover approximately half of his tuition and is also a candidate for an assistantship position in the future. Jeremiah reflects on this wonderful news saying, “Throughout the short time we’ve been married, we’ve seen God provide for us again and again. This is just another manifestation of His provision for us.”
Advancing their education has always been a part of their plans, but only now has it become a reality. Amber elaborates further by stating, “I would consider both of us to be life-long learners—we want to continually be developing and growing, never stagnant. Since completing our undergraduate studies, we’ve both had a desire to further our education but have been waiting on God’s perfect timing. It seems all the doors have been flung wide open.”
Jeremiah and Amber also commented on their positive experience at UW Milwaukee. “We both worked really well with UW’s professors during our lessons, and we learned so much in such a short time!” At the audition, the professors expressed their appreciation of the quality of the musicianship and the musicians involved in the auditions. Amber remarked, “Our undergraduate studies at Maranatha have prepared us well for this next step. We are both so excited about this growing opportunity, and I can think of no one else with whom I would rather attend grad school.”
Jeremiah will be pursuing a Master’s in Flute Performance, and Amber will be pursuing a Master’s in Piano Performance: Collaborative Piano with an Instrumental Emphasis.
