2026 Great Lakes Music Festival: “Flora and Fauna”
This past weekend was a beautiful reminder of the power of God’s gift of music. With more than 200 students involved in 8 different tracks, the festival was more than just a concert. It was a shared experience of preparation, collaboration, and excellence.
Students filled the campus as registration opened Friday at noon. The contagious energy poured over into the opening rehearsals. Each meeting was marked by careful attention to detail as the final concert was rapidly approaching. Students commented on how disciplined the rehearsals were, staying on task and accomplishing great goals.
After the first rehearsals on Friday evening, the students gathered for a time of encouragement from God’s Word from Mr. Peter Wright, followed by a pizza party and game night. The energy was bustling as the students went to bed with a full day ahead of them.
Saturday morning rehearsals ended, and the highlight of the weekend was in sight as the students prepared to showcase their hard work. Band and orchestra, piano ensembles, men’s and ladies’ choruses, the brand new advanced vocal ensemble, and the 250-person festival chorus all combined in a powerful presentation of the beauty of God’s creation in animal and plant life alike.
As the weekend ended, it was clear that the impact of the festival would extend far beyond Saturday afternoon. The lessons, inspiration, and memories will continue to shape how each student practices and performs in the year ahead. Great Lakes 2026 was a wonderful success! Great Lakes 2027 is just around the corner!
