S01E06 | Dr. Tim Schmig & Dr. Will Licht
March 29, 2022
Both guests of this episode share common interest in Christian education and history. Tim Schmig, a member of Maranatha’s Board of Resource, outlines his work as Executive Director for the Michigan Association of Christian Schools and why it is crucial. He explains the importance of definitions, how language and history are fixed, and the loss of critical thinking. Host Dr. Matt Davis then turns the conversation to Tim’s “side job,” his work documenting our national heritage through “Stories in Stone.”
Dr. Will Licht, who has served as a professor, department chair, dean, and Vice President for Academic Affairs at MBU, passionately studies history, affirming that there’s much to learn by understanding the principles behind the stories and observing how God worked. Though not privileged with Christian education in his youth, he is a staunch supporter, citing studies that pinpoint two “windows” in which worldview is solidified. He reviews his metamorphosis into an educator and identifies elements that contribute to Maranatha’s academic excellence and uniqueness.
