S03E07 | Sarah (Mally) Hancock & Patricia Engler
November 29, 2022
Taking advantage of opportunities at the Creation College Expo at Answers in Genesis, co-host Jonathan Sheeley interviews two discipleship leaders in this episode. The first is Sarah Hancock. As a teen, she recognized the lack of discipleship in churches and became burdened for younger girls. Thus, she began a Bible study with 13 teens/pre-teens, not envisioning how the Lord would expand her work into Bright Lights, a ministry seeking to encourage women of all ages to disciple young girls who, in turn, will do the same. She and Jonathan retrace the development of her ministry and address the topic of singleness, something Sarah experienced far longer than she anticipated.
Having heard a presentation by Answers in Genesis founder Ken Ham, Patricia Engler resolved to become an apologist. Thinking she needed to understand how evolution was taught, she enrolled in a public university. Upon graduation, she literally backpacked around the world, documenting how Christian students “survived” in secular schools. She detected universal patterns that became the core of a book and subject of many speaking engagements. She lists three vital foundations and seven critical thinking “checks.” Patricia returned to Europe to trace the consequences of Marxism and is pursuing a degree in bioethics. She and Jonathan conclude the dialogue outlining preparatory safeguards for advanced studies in secular institutions.
