Steinbart Honored with Two Top Awards

Each year, an Outstanding Senior Musician Award is given to the MBU graduate whom the music faculty believes completely exhibits the qualities of the spirit of Maranatha through music. This student is selected on the basis of musicianship, academic achievement, spiritual and character qualities, and Christian service. The Music Department announces Joseph Steinbart as the recipient of the 2018 Outstanding Musician Award.

At commencement, Steinbart also received the B. Myron Cedarholm Founder’s Award. This award is given to the graduate whom the leadership believes most effectively exemplifies the purpose and spirit of Maranatha through commitment to the Lord’s work, a servant’s heart, and dedication to the local church.

During Joseph’s career at Maranatha, his diligence, pursuit of excellence, and love for the Lord have been evident in every aspect of his life and ministry.

“Joseph Steinbart has blossomed in his time here at MBU,” states David Ledgerwood, Music Department Chair. “Due to his desire to constantly learn everything he can, he has made rapid progress in viola, voice, conducting, and leadership. Joseph’s easy-going personality belies an incredible work ethic. I rejoice at what he has been able to accomplish, and look forward to hearing many good things in the future.”

Steinbart recently performed a stellar senior viola recital and won the 2018 Commencement Contest. Steinbart is also a five-year veteran of Chamber Singers and is traveling with the Heritage Singers for a second summer before entering graduate school in the fall. He was recently awarded a large scholarship and graduate position at University of Louisville where he will study performance and pedagogy.

Congratulations to the well-deserving recipient of the 2018 Outstanding Musician Award and the B. Myron Cedarholm Founder’s Award, Joseph Steinbart!
