Ask your private lesson teacher to email a letter of recommendation to Sherry Trainer. If you are in a band or choir, a letter of recommendation from your director would also be valued.

Performance Assessment Packet Part C

Make a performance recording for professional assessment by the music faculty.

Music Majors - 3 Selections

  • Selections should be contrasting in style, tempo, and musical era.
  • Selections should be of sufficient difficulty to show your capabilities in each style.
  • Selections should reflect a pre-collegiate level of study, both music and technically.
  • Memorization is encouraged for all; however, pianists, vocalists, and string players must perform by memory.

Music Minors and Music Concentrations - 2 Selections

  • Selections should be contrasting in style, tempo, and musical era.
  • Selections should be of sufficient difficulty to show your capabilities in each style of playing.
  • Memorization is encouraged, but not required.
  • Arranging Minors – include copies of two of your complete arrangement written for piano or small ensembles.

To submit your recordings online:

  • Sign up for a free, online dropbox account.
  • Log in to dropbox, create a folder, save your recordings in the folder, right-click/control-click your recording FILE (not folder), choose “share link,” choose “get link” on the bottom right hand corner, copy the link into the music degree application by typing what is on the recording and hitting ctrl + V or copy. If you are submitting more than one video, you need to do this for each video.
  • Keep the video clips in the dropbox folder and on your computer  until you receive a performance evaluation from Maranatha music faculty.

To fill out the online Music Degree Application, you must have your repertoire list, letters of references, and recordings completed.

Due Dates

Choose one of the dates below. The sooner you complete this process, the sooner our music faculty can advise you.

Fall Semester Start Date:

  • Round 1: December 15. Receive Feedback by January 15
  • Round 2: February 15. Receive Feedback by March 15
  • Round 3: July 15. Receive Feedback by August 15.

Spring Semester Start:

  • November 15. Receive feedback by December 15.
