S03E08 | Robert J. Fuller III
December 6, 2022
Rob Fuller’s story echoes a common podcast scenario: God’s plans are often interrupt ours. Rob is Maranatha’s Dean of Men and Men’s Head Basketball Coach, who left a beloved position as pastor of music to come to MBU. To him, ”music is preaching,” and he keenly felt the loss. Complying with God’s plan, however, has given him a greater sphere in which to fulfill his mission of making life-time followers of Christ. He and host Dr. Matt Davis reflect the confrontational aspects of discipline as a dean of men. The key, Rob claims, is genuine focus on the student’s best. The conversation shifts to coaching and the “natural built-in platform” coaches have to become mentors. “I see basketball as a Petri dish or microcosm of life,” Rob says, explaining that emotional management required in athletics is the same required throughout life.
