BA-MA

Through the combined efforts of the College of Bible and Church Ministries and Maranatha Baptist Seminary, undergraduate students can simultaneously earn two degrees. This dual-credit pathway can be integrated with any undergraduate major and results in both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Bible.

BACHELOR'S-TO-MASTER'S DEGREE PATHWAY

BA to MA in Bible track - students who do not take Biblical Languages

The following undergraduate hours will be Advanced Placed (course grade must be a B- or better and the student’s final overall GPA must be 2.5 or better):

  1. BIBC 321 Baptist Heritage
  2. One OT class (300 or higher)
  3. One NT class (300 or higher)
  4. BIBI 421 Theology 1 (in the place of Doctrine 1)
  5. BIBI 422 Theology 2 (in the place of Doctrine 2)

TOTAL – 15 hours

For seminary classes, you will take the following:

  1. GST 510 Prolegomena (online every online session, 1 credit)
  2. GST 520 Dispensationalism (every spring on campus)
  3. GST 611 Systematic Theology 1 (every other year on campus, and every other year online)
  4. GST 614 Systematic Theology 4 (every other year on campus, and every other year online)
  5. Two seminary electives (6 hours) of your choice
  6. GPA 524 Principles of Bible Study and Teaching is waived for all MBU graduates; the hours for that class do not need to be replaced

TOTAL – 15 hours

You need to commit to this program by the beginning of your junior year and then stick with it. Since you are not taking the two semesters of doctrine (which cover all the areas of theology), you will have to complete the undergraduate Theology 1 and 2 and the Seminary Systematic Theology 1 and 4 in order to graduate. Only by taking all four classes do you cover the same areas of theology necessary for theological competency. You cannot graduate from the college with just Theology 1 and 2.
