2025 Outstanding Musician | Alissa Foerster
Maranatha Baptist University’s Department of Music announces Alissa Foerster as the 2025 Outstanding Senior Musician. Every year, the music faculty choose a graduate they believe exhibits the spirit of Maranatha through music. Considerations include the student’s musicianship, academic merit, spiritual and character qualities, and Christian service.
Music Involvement
Alissa pursued a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music with concentrations in Piano Pedagogy and Church Music. At Maranatha, she was a member of the Madrigal Choir, Symphonic Band, Chamber Strings, and the 2024 Uruguay Musical Missions Team. She held various leadership roles in these groups, including Madrigal Handbell Choir director. As an intern with the Maranatha Music Prep School, Alissa taught private piano lessons, ensembles, and group theory classes. She was voted the 2025 Intern of the Year at the Music Prep School, chosen by her peers.
Teacher Commendations
Ruth Brown writes, “In my four years of working with Alissa, her godly character shines in many areas: Alissa loves the Lord and wants to please Him. This shows in her teachable spirit, relationships, love for her piano students, and compassion for others. Alissa is incredibly organized. She is very busy but somehow manages to find time to help others with their schedules and give advice on surviving each semester. Alissa sets a high standard of academic excellence. We are all blessed by her joyful spirit and her willingness to help others. Congratulations on finishing well, Alissa!”
“Alissa demonstrates a rare level of grit and determination in everything she does,” comments Janet Tschida. “As faculty, we’ve greatly appreciated her eagerness to learn, care for her classmates, and desire to honor God. The parents of Alissa’s Music Prep students frequently commend her ability to connect with their children and push them to reach their full potential. We thank Alissa for her valuable contributions to our department as a music tutor, Music Department assistant, Madrigal handbell director, and Music Prep teacher, and we look forward to seeing what God has for her future.”
Post-Graduation Plans
After graduation, Alissa plans to serve at Christian camps this summer in Louisiana and Hong Kong. This fall, she intends to teach private piano lessons, minister through music at her home church, and work for her dad’s business.
Congratulations to Maranatha’s 2025 Outstanding Senior Musician – Alissa Foerster.
