Hannah Glass: With the Lord
On Sunday, November 10, 2024, following an allergic reaction, Hannah Glass, a junior English Education major at MBU, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord. Hannah lived with her parents and three brothers in a nearby community and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Jefferson. She was an exceptional student and a sweet-spirited servant in her church, with a heart for reaching souls with the gospel. She made a tremendous impact in her first year on campus and in the Academy, where she was conducting her education fieldwork.
In death, Hannah’s family made it possible for others to receive life-giving transplants. Sunday afternoon as Hannah was wheeled into the OR at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, two hundred people joined an Honor Walk to express support, to salute the family’s sacrifice, and to sing hymns. That evening, in dorms across campus, faculty members and staff led students in times of prayer and sharing. During chapel on Monday morning, President Dr. David Anderson preached words of comfort from Scripture and shared wisdom from his own experience of loss. Student Life Office personnel and campus counselors have been available to support the spiritual needs of the student body.
CEO Dr. Davis shared on Facebook, “From a human standpoint, we grieve the loss of Hannah. It breaks our hearts to consider all the things that she will ‘miss’ in life. But we trust the promises of Scripture that our times are in God’s hands, and that every believer will abide for eternity in the glorious presence of the Savior. Truly for the Christian, it is not death to die. May we all live as Hannah did, to the praise of His glory.”
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church, 792 Milford Street in Watertown. Dr. David Anderson will conduct the service, with MBU musicians ministering in music. Visitation for family and close friends is scheduled for 10:00 AM. Administration has encouraged all faculty, staff, and students to attend, thus, campus will be closed from 10:30 AM until the conclusion of the service.
Calvary Baptist Church will live stream the service here.
