UPCOMING MARANATHA PRODUCTION
The dramatic productions, technical theatre, and speech (public speaking & oral interpretation) tracks are under Maranatha’s Communication Arts major. Students studying in this field will be prepared to serve the needs of a growing presentation industry focused on creating and delivering messages for the greatest impact possible. The prevailing need today is for skilled artists who are able to collaborate across fields and clearly articulate their ideas.
The dramatic productions and technical theatre tracks are exciting new programs that help students reach their full creative potential while receiving a well-rounded education, all within the framework of a biblical worldview.
As majors, students enroll in a wide range of media courses as well as courses in oral communication, enabling them to prepare and present ideas effectively. Other tracks include Digital Media and Photography
The dramatic productions and technical theatre tracks equip students to serve as church drama ministers or to work in educational theatre or in professional theatre companies as actors, writers, or technicians.
The speech track prepares students for careers in communications consulting or specialties, news reporting, journalism, politics, speech writing, public relations, human resources, solo performance, and scriptwriting.
Drama offers a versatile way to communicate and connect with an audience. Rather than using drama to appeal to ungodly desires or serve as cheap entertainment, Maranatha offers dramatic productions as an avenue for analyzing literature, reinforcing biblical truth, and presenting a Christian worldview in thought-provoking ways. Students in this minor sharpen their skills in communication, problem-solving, organization, group dynamics, performance, analysis, and artistic design.
All three tracks can be minors as well, which culminates with a public presentation of a student-directed senior recital program.
