Dr. Larry Oats and his wife, Colleen, were part of the second and first graduating classes of Maranatha Baptist Bible College, respectively. Together, they have four children—two boys and two girls—and twelve grandchildren. A little-known fact is that, in addition to enjoying traveling, Dr. Oats also includes photography on his list of top hobbies. Although his favorite state is Wisconsin, he prefers vacationing in Hawaii, which would allow him to thaw from the cold winter Wisconsin months. Showing great loyalty to Maranatha, Dr. Oats says his favorite sports team is the Maranatha Sabercats.

Dr. Oats served as a youth pastor before coming to Maranatha Baptist Academy and filling the position of high school principal. He has been a staff or faculty member at Maranatha Baptist University since 1974. His role as Dean of Maranatha Baptist Seminary began in 2009, when the seminary opened.
