William Licht

Professor
Dean, College of Arts and Sciences

Dr. Licht came to Maranatha after spending more than ten years as a Christian School teacher and principal. He joined the MBU faculty in 1993. Along with his faculty responsibilities, he served as the Chair of the Department of Humanities and then Dean of the School of Education. Since 2014, he has taken leadership as the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Licht continues to teach selected undergrad History courses and graduate courses in the MEd program. He refers to his moments in the classroom as “my most favorite time of the week.”

Campus Involvement

Dr. Licht serves the campus in many areas, including: Vice President for Academic Affairs; Chair, Academic Committee; Strategy Council; Executive Council;  Leadership Council.

Family

Will married his lovely wife Susan in 1980. Together they have four children and six grandchildren.

Other Activities and Interests

In his free time, Will enjoys various other activities such as fishing, hiking, bicycling, and visiting national parks. He cheers for the Sabercats and the Dodgers, and enjoys reading. Some of his favorite books include 1776, The Boys in the Boat, and My Grandfather’s Son.

Church Ministry

Will and Susan are active in their local church. Will is a deacon and leads a home Bible study.
