David H. Farrington Scholarship 2017 Recipient Named

Maranatha Baptist University is happy to present the 2017 David H. Farrington Scholarship to Jessanna Clark, senior Science Education major.

David H. Farrington served the Lord as pastor of eight churches and was the pastor/administrator for two nursing homes. In recognition of his many years of faithful ministry, Maranatha Baptist University conferred an honorary doctoral degree on Pastor Farrington on May 29, 1971.

Dr. Farrington went to be with the Lord on November 7, 1992. Memorial gifts given at the time of his home-going provided for the first-year scholarship in 1993. Dr. Farrington’s four children (Bruce, Cindy, Dorothy, and Adrian) each gave $2,500 to endow the scholarship in memory of their father. Additional funds were added in memory of Adrian, who passed away February 13, 2012.

Because of Dr. Farrington’s concern and burden for young people and senior adults, the family’s desire is for this scholarship to be awarded to a student who has demonstrated a special interest in either of these ministries.

Dr. Farrington’s heart for youth and the elderly, and the scholarship established by his family, have provided many opportunities for Maranatha students to complete their education and follow his example of service.

Jessanna Clark, the recipient of the 2017 scholarship writes, “The Farrington Family Scholarship was truly a blessing to me. As a student working her way through college, this money provided me time to take on an additional role at church as a Sunday School teacher. Now I am able to devote more time to teaching, which is my heart’s desire.”

She has served in the past as an assistant Sunday School teacher, a VBS director, and a choir/special music member.

Jessanna is planning to graduate in 2019.
