Music on Mondays: Christin Kieckhafer
Maranatha is honored to host alumna Christin Kieckhafer for Music on Mondays this fall. On October 5th, Kieckhafer, joined by Lindsay Patterson and Ruth Brown, will take the stage to present two concerts. The first will be a short, family-friendly concert at 6:00 PM. The second concert at 7:00 PM, is geared for both the general public and music enthusiasts. Both of these concerts will include energetic and beautiful pieces that everyone can enjoy! Christin shares, “Music gives unique voice to the emotions that words alone cannot fully express. Together, let us embark on a journey of sound and lyrics, where dreams awaken, wonder unfolds, love flourishes and struggles, memories linger, and every melody tells a heart-felt story.”
Music on Mondays exists to benefit the community by bringing classical music to the heart of Watertown, Wisconsin, always leaving those in attendance eagerly anticipating the next performance. Continue reading to get to know the performers and their musical backgrounds!
Christin Kieckhafer, soprano
Christin Kieckhafer is a musician and music educator originally from Gilbert, Arizona. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in music and has performed throughout the United States, including as a member of the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus. Passionate about both creating and teaching music, Christin has taught middle school choir, currently owns and operates a private voice and piano studio, and serves as a college-level applied voice instructor at MBU. Her published choral works are available through the Indianapolis Children’s Choir, Beckenhorst Press, Forever Be Sure Publications, Foster Music Group, and GIA Publications. Christin lives in Hartford, Wisconsin, with her husband and their three children and their dog, Truffle. Together, they enjoy serving in their local church and embracing life in Wisconsin.
Lindsay Patterson, cello
Lindsay is a versatile cellist whose career spans orchestral performance, chamber music, and solo appearances throughout the Midwest. She serves as Principal Cellist of the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra, a position she has held since 2012, and is an active chamber musician with the Sheboygan Symphony String Quartet and Lakefront Quartet. She also performs regularly with the Wisconsin Philharmonic, Kenosha Symphony, and Racine Symphony Orchestra, and is a substitute musician with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
Her diverse performance career has included premieres of Christopher Tin’s music with Video Games Live, solo performances of Gabriel Fauré’s Élégie with the Sheboygan Symphony Youth Orchestra, and appearances alongside the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Michael Bublé. Lindsay has further refined her artistry through masterclasses with acclaimed musicians including Christopher Rex, Adrien Zitoun, Boris Andrianov, and the Daedalus String Quartet.
Lindsay earned both her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Music in Cello Pedagogy from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. She holds Suzuki Certification through all ten books, having trained with Barbara Wampner and Avi Friedlander.
A passionate advocate for music education, Lindsay is the founder of Lindsay Marie Cello Studios, where she has maintained a thriving private studio since 2014. She has also taught at the String Academy of Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Her students have earned placement in prestigious youth ensembles, received recognition through WSMA, and gone on to study at leading collegiate music programs, including the Mead Witter School of Music at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Brigham Young University, and the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.
In recognition of her commitment to artistic excellence and education, Lindsay received the 2023 Civic Music Educator Award for Studio Music Instruction from the Civic Music Association of Milwaukee.
Ruth Brown, piano
Ruth Brown holds a B.S. degree in Music Education and an M.M. degree in Piano Performance. She has taught private piano majors and minors, as well as music classes, at Maranatha Baptist University since the fall of 2003. Ruth has extensive experience publishing hymn arrangements, accompanying on professional CD recordings, speaking for piano workshops, teaching in music camps, and serving as a Guild judge. She is also a frequent pianist for the services of Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown, Wisconsin.
Ruth and her husband, Dave (also a Maranatha faculty member), have been married since 1986 and have two grown children. An avid reader, Ruth also enjoys walking her English Lab, Molly, and working on home improvement and home organization projects.
