PROGRAMS LEADING TO PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE/ CERTIFICATION

PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE DISCLOSURES

Pursuant to federal regulations (34 CFR § 668.43 (a)(5)(v), § 668.43 (c), and § 600.9 (c)(2)(i)-(iii)), Maranatha Baptist University provides the following information regarding programs leading to professional licensure or certification.*

Please note that licensure and certification requirements vary by state and are subject to change. Although MBU will confirm licensing information regularly, if a student is planning to apply for licensure in a state other than Wisconsin, the student is encouraged to contact the appropriate licensing board to determine whether the MBU program meets their licensure or certification requirements.

PROGRAMS LEADING TO PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

ACCOUNTING (CPA)

The Accounting CPA program prepares students to complete the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy CPA exam which is accepted for licensure in all states. For additional information about individual state licensure requirements, see the NASBA website. While the Accounting CPA program also meets the educational requirements for most states, some states require specific coursework that may be met by taking one or two specific MBU courses in place of a program elective. Once a student is approved to enter the Accounting CPA program, their advisor will formalize a plan to meet the educational requirements for their state.

TEACHER EDUCATION

Teacher licensure requirements vary widely from state to state. Teacher education programs at MBU (with the exception of Educational Studies and the Master of Education) lead to Wisconsin state licensure, which is considered to be at the “gold standard” level of quality. Please review the most recent Educator Preparation Program Report from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for more information.

Most states will accept the transfer of a Wisconsin license, but they may require additional steps to be taken for certification as well. While we regularly update the information below, please be aware that states are continually revising their teacher certification/licensure rules and requirements without notice. For additional information about state licensure, see the Educational Commission of the States website, which provides a comparison of state requirements and links to state licensure websites.
