Information technology is a progressive and constantly changing industry, promising a wide range of opportunities. If you have always loved the idea of working with technology and computers, the Computer Technology program may be the ideal pathway for you. The Associate of Applied Science in Computer Technology prepares students for employment in the field of information technology. The Cloud Administration track prepares graduates for roles as a database administrator, database analyst, database report writer, and database report analyst. The Cybersecurity track prepares graduates for roles as a security technician, security engineer, and security analyst. The program coordinates with national standards like those of the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) and Microsoft standards. Courses are taught 100% online.
Program Outcomes
- Install, connect, and configure network hardware and software to meet common requirements.
- Design and implement an internetwork including IP addressing, sub-netting, routing, switching, Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), and network design documentation.
- List and describe TCP/IP layers, layer interactions, protocols, and applications.
- Describe technical aspects of network operation including access technologies, bandwidths, standards, VLANs, and electronic connecting devices.
- Describe common Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies, topologies, and associated protocols.
- Install, test, and troubleshoot PC hardware and Windows desktop operating systems.
- Demonstrate professional interaction with end users in a technical support environment utilizing troubleshooting, escalation channels, Help Desk software, and communications skills.
- Install, maintain, administer, and support Windows and Linux server operating systems.
- Understand common legal, ethical and business requirements for securing information.
- Utilize security tools and common best practices to design a secure network architecture
