Leadership Watertown: Giving Back

imgp4895
In Maranatha’s ROTC program, we strive to give back to the community.  Watertown has supported our ROTC program through different events such as opening the aquatic center for us to practice swimming, allowing us to use the high school for winter PT tests, and even giving us time on the range with the police department.

Whenever we have an opportunity to give back, we take it.  One such event we were able to help out in was Leadership Watertown.  This is a program where they help individuals who want to be better leaders in the community by putting their leadership skills to the test.  They accomplish this through an obstacle course and running these obstacles with certain limitations.  One such limitation involved no talking once the event started.  I personally enjoyed myself at this event.

Me and the rest of the ranger challenge team were able to show our fellow Leadership Watertown participants how to make a rope bridge and helped each of them across it.  After that, we cadets were placed into different teams to help them complete their different tasks on the obstacle course.  It was cool to see different leadership styles and ideas presented to accomplish the challenges set before us.  In my group was an individual who helped us on the range when we practiced with 9mm handguns.  I was grateful, for the opportunity, to talk with him more and to thank him for the chance of shooting on the range.  Overall it was a fantastic experience and I look forward to next year when I can do it again.
