Communication Arts

Whether the medium is web, print, photography, video, or the stage, Maranatha’s Communication Arts major is designed to prepare students to serve the needs of a growing presentation industry focused on creating and delivering messages for the greatest impact possible. Students enrolled in this major will learn from a wide range of media courses as well as courses in oral communication, enabling them to both prepare and present ideas effectively. Each student who enrolls in the Communication Arts Major will select one of four tracks in which to specialize: Digital Media, Dramatic Productions, Photography, or Speech (public speaking & oral interpretation). This exciting new program will help students reach their full creative potential while receiving a well-rounded education, all within the framework of a biblical worldview.

"Drama creates opportunities to interact and impact people for the glory of God." - Bethany Woodfin, Student

Maybe you don't have the time to do a full Communication Arts major, but you still want to take classes in one of the four tracks. Each of the tracks is also offered as a minor (except speech). Take some to check out the various communications minors Maranatha offers!

Our faculty knows communications

Jeffrey Miller was named chair of Maranatha’s Humanities Department in June of 2011. He served as Speech Program Coordinator during his first year at Maranatha and has nearly a decade of college-level teaching experience in the areas of public speaking and set design. Miller has written Thespianage, a collection of 60 scripts suitable for churches, youth groups, and Christian schools. “I love the level of expectation at Maranatha,” Miller says. “It challenges our students to rise to the occasion and lead rather than take the path that is easiest and most pleasing to them. It will make them true ambassadors in an increasingly global society.”
